This is reflected in the gender division of labour in most families. Women do all the work inside the home such as cooking, cleaning, washing clothes, looking after children etc. And men do all the work outside the home. It is the mindset than men are not going to do the household work. The result of this is that although women constitute roughly half of the population, their role in public life is minimal in most societies.
