Isaac Newton was a great scientist. he was born in 1642 and died in 1727. He discovered the Low of Gravitation. It was the falling of an apple in his garden that set him thinking. He was trying to find why the earth went around the sun and the moon around the earth. He asked himself, “Why does an apple fall to earth”? This led him to his great discovery. He also made many other discoveries. Nowton was a very learned man a but he was very gentle and polite.

Dhanpat Ray (1880-1936) born in Varanasi on July 31, 1880 was a prolific writer of both Hindi and Urdu. He changed his pen name to ‘Premchand’ after his book ‘Soje Vatan’ was banned by the then British Government. He wrote about the realities of life and the various problem faced by the common man in a turbulent society. He focused chiefly on rural India and the exploitation faced by a common villager at the hands of priests, land lords, loan sharks, etc. He also emphasised on the unity of Hindus and Muslims.
